Daf Yomi

How to track your Daf Yomi progress

One daf a day, seven and a half years, 2,711 blatt. Here's how to never lose your place — and actually feel the progress you're making.

Daf Yomi is one of the most beautiful commitments in Jewish life: a single page of Gemara every day, the whole of Shas together with hundreds of thousands of Jews around the world. But it's also easy to lose track of. Miss a day travelling, forget which daf you're up to, or fall a little behind, and the whole cycle can start to feel foggy.

A good Daf Yomi tracker fixes three things at once: it always knows today's daf, it shows you how far through the cycle you are, and it keeps you coming back day after day. That's exactly what Hasmada was built to do.

Why track Daf Yomi at all?

Because a cycle this long lives or dies on consistency. When you can see your streak and your percentage toward the finish, the daf stops being an abstract obligation and becomes a chain you don't want to break. That small daily "logged" is a surprisingly strong pull to open the Gemara tomorrow, too.

How to track Daf Yomi in Hasmada

  1. Add Shas Bavli From the catalog, choose Shas Bavli — 2,711 blatt already built in, no setup.
  2. Follow the Daf Yomi cycle Hasmada detects the current cycle and offers to auto-sync your position. Tap "Follow Daf Yomi" and today's daf is set for you.
  3. Log the daf in seconds After you learn, open the log screen, confirm the daf, add your minutes, and you're done — under fifteen seconds.
  4. Let the streak build Your day streak grows automatically, and it's Shabbos- and Yom-Tov-aware, so it never breaks when it shouldn't.
  5. Watch the finish line get closer Your progress bar fills daf by daf — a real percentage toward the siyum.

Prefer your own pace? If you're not on the standard cycle — maybe you're doing your own seder or catching up — choose "Track manually" and set your own starting daf and pace. Everything else works the same.

Never lose your streak on Shabbos

Most habit apps punish you for the days you're supposed to rest. Hasmada follows the Jewish calendar, so Shabbos and Yom Tov are protected automatically — your streak stays whole and you pick up the next daf without a scratch. More on keeping a Daf Yomi streak →
